While businesses are still preparing for the ‘Secure Jobs, Better Pay’ reforms, Labor has introduced a new tranche of reforms, including the controversial last-minute decision to give employees the right to disconnect. Owners and managers of large and small businesses must immediately consider the impact of these changes on their businesses so they can begin making the requisite changes to safeguard them from costly civil and criminal liabilities.

During this seminar, our employment law specialist, Ben Duggan, will examine the reforms and explain what necessary steps business owners and managers should be taking now to ensure compliance with:

  • staff wages: criminal liability and greater monetary penalties for underpayments;
  • enterprise bargaining: the changed bargaining landscape;
  • union rights: new representation and entry rights;
  • labour regulation: new rules for casuals, labour-hire and contractors; and
  • industrial manslaughter: new to South Australia’s WHS Act.
