While medical centre businesses, including dental clinics, physiotherapy practices, radiology centres and similar healthcare providers, continue to grapple with the significant challenges faced by the workplace reforms and RevenueSA’s payroll tax ruling from 2023, they face a new tranche of workplace reforms that will shape the way these businesses operate and structure their workforce. Labor’s recent reforms are the most radical changes to workplace relations laws in over a decade. Owners and managers of medical centre businesses will need to consider the impact of these changes on their businesses to ensure the appropriate changes are made to comply with the new reforms and avoid any costly liabilities.

During this seminar, our employment law specialist, Ben Duggan, will examine the reforms and explain what necessary steps medical centre businesses should be taking now to ensure compliance with the following areas:

  • new union rights;
  • compliance (including wage theft);
  • contractor regulation;
  • new regulation of casual employees;
  • rules for labour-hire workers; and
  • the controversial right to disconnect.
